Coos Reviews: texthook

i am a constant digger. digging for keys, digging for the baggie of o's, frantically digging for my phone while it's ringing...

that's where the
texthook ($25.99) comes in. this clever little gadget straps on to your stroller and holds your smartphone right where you need it: at your finger tips!

i was sent a texthook to test drive and i have to say, i am always a little nervous about getting products to test/review. i worry that i will hate it and have to write something critical after the company was nice enough to let me try it out. well, this wasn't the case with the texthook--i really like it!

it took no time or instruction to insert the phone and strap it on to the stroller. it was very secure and you can adjust the angle. i felt like the captain of a ship! i'm a little blind, so i couldn't text and walk with it strapped on, but it was pretty darn easy to get it on and off. the texthook is a must have for any city mom.

Fashion Coos: Autumn Sweater

kicokids is one of the rare labels that pays as much attention to its boys line as it does to the girls--probably because the founder has a girl and a boy. the fall 2009 line is on sale on their site right now. it's still quite expensive, but one can drool! i think this is the perfect autumn sweater (like the yo la tengo song).

love this little model too, he's really working it.

Ahhs: aden+anais

it's no secret that the aden + anais muslin swaddle wraps are the best! possibly my favorite baby item-- you can use them for just about everything: swaddle, blanket, nursing cover, scarf, spit-up cloth...the list goes on. i can be such a plain jane--i have the solid white ones--but i really love these new bright star wraps.

but my very favorite ones are the mela bamboo prints designed by masala baby. these prints are to die for!!! they are made from bamboo fiber, which i am so curious how they feel. i have heard negative reports on bamboo bedding, that is can stick to you or get itchy. i actually wrote to a+a to see about getting a sample, but never heard back. i am sure they get swamped with small -time bloggers like myself.

Adorn: Fauna Pico Pillows

new fauna pillows ($24) at design public. i think the pig is my favorite.

Fashion Coos: Back to School Series

i am back in the city after a long weekend away.

i'm still in a bit in shock over the strange comments on the magnificent baby post... this is a baby blog about fashion and toys and such, it's all love and cute babies at coos & ahhs! but i was glad to see my readers rally against the weirdness.

i am getting really jazzed up for this weekend: playtime! if anyone is attending let me know, i'd love to connect!

ok, the post! i am loving these little corduroy harem pants ($19.50) and chunky knit sweater ($29.50) from baby gap--this outfit is like a baby version of the dude from the big lebowski!
and i have a stack of books and products to review, so i will getting those posts up as soon as possible. in all honestly though, we're going to be a bit slow through august.

Ed Emberley Tribute

i'm back from an overnight in philly. it was fun but i am a bit exhausted. i am also trying to train henry to sleep in his crib or at least not need mommy so much when he wakes up and it's not going well. i am not cut out for letting your baby cry it out. moving on...

when is saw this post on coolhunting about an ed emberely tribute exhibition, it struck a cord close to my heart. see, when i was a little girl growing up in alaska, ed emberley came all the way to my elementary school. it was one of the most exciting times during my years at bear valley. we had weeks and weeks of  emberley inspried events: book clubs, sales, drawing contests. it was an ed emberley fest! it felt like walt disney or dr. seuss was coming. when he arrived we all crammed into our little gymnasium and he gave us drawing lesson--ed emberley style. it was awesome. honestly, i had all but forgotten about ed emberley until i saw this exhibition posting. so if you live in los angeles go to the scion gallery and check this out for me and if you live elsewhere buy your child an emberely book--they are awesome!

Adorn: Toy Organization

i want this basket (currently on sale for $67) so bad. It would make a great toy basket and look oh, so cute! too bad my mom doesn't read my blog.

Ahhs: Wee Gallery Soft Books

sometimes i feel like i am the last to know everything! i was so happy to see that wee gallery makes soft books! babies go bananas for wee gallery cards, so these accordion style books that stand-up are brilliant...but it seems they have already sold out online. booooo

Ahhs: Staycation Round-Up

i put this little round-up together as summer travel kicks into high gear.
with this bad economy and tight budgets some of us are staying close to home, while others are postponing big trips to later dates (myself included!) here we go...or, err, stay!

1. planned to visit a metropolis this summer, but couldn't make it because your electric bill broke the bank? pick up an adorable maptote onesies with maps of major cities.   2. i love the city walks with kids series that takes you and kiddo on a new adventure right in your home town!  3. For those of you who  live in a town---ok, sorry, portland is a real city! check out walk there! a guide to walks in portland and vancouver.   4. make sure you pack a sunhat for all that walking! this one from rickshaw design is to die for. i like the extra wide brim.   5. the lovely this is...series by the czech illustrator miroslav sasek takes you on a tour of a far-off cities from the comforts of your bed.   6. And if you are getting out of town for a couple of days or even just an overnight, this bag from jcrew is a must! and it's a steal at $36!

i am sorry i have been so mia. this summer has been so busy it's proving hard to stay on top on things. i have tradeshow mania coming up, so that will keep the posts-a-comings. stay cool!

Ahhs: GoCrib

the gocrib ($250) really grabbed my attention since i am pretty much on a bus, train or airplane every weekend this summer. lucky for me, i just sleep with the baby when we are away, but if you don't co-sleep this is a brilliant option. the gocrib is inflatable and can be used as a crib or beach, park shelter!

Ahhs: Office of the Tooth Fairy

i don't know why, but i am on this night time ahhs kick. i guess since we're in the thick of summer (literally here in nyc) and night time feels like the only time we can escape the stifling heat.  i saw this a few years back and loved it, even pre-baby. it's the office of the tooth fairy kit ($16). where children can deposit their teeth with a letter pressed certificate and bag. such a cute idea!

Ahhs: Babykeeper

ok more randomness...

this kinda cracks me up, but i also think it's pretty brilliant. the babykeeper ($39.99-$69.99) is a hip carrier that you can hook on a wall or bathroom stall.

Ahhs: Magnificent Baby

how many 3:00 am diaper changes have you had, eyes half open, baby screaming, while you try to snap up those darn jammies? magnificent baby created a solution: magnets instead of snaps! check how it works here.
little farm burrito onesie ($25) is this baby wearing a toupe???

Adorn: Summer Shadows

schools out. summer is in full swing. kids stay up late reading night time stories while the a/c drowns in the background...make your summer night time routine a little different with shadow puppets.

these hand shadow cards ($5) and really fun and children can try to mimic the card.
i love these fantastical russian folklore shadow puppets($18) by isabellasart

and of course owlyshadow puppets ($35)

i am obsessed with this hand shadow wallpaper! you can't tell in this pic, but it's purple and silver!! love it!
