the other night on my way home from work i ran into one of my most stylish mommy friends donna on the train. she happen to have a tote full of these beautiful new board books by the french illustrator hervé tullet--his website is the absolute cutest! the series of six features interactive games of patterns, light, mix and match, let's go, finger worms and mix-up art (phaidon 2011). donna was nice enough to give me the game of let's go, which takes little fingers on a fuzzy path through their imaginations. available for pre-order now at books to coo about and in bookstores in march.

Fashion Coos: Anais & I

new york-based anais & i clothing made its debut last fall with a delightful girls collection. lucky for our little guys this season they have included a new boy's line (sizes 12 months to 10 years). anais & i is designed by mom of three jane d'haene, who tests all samples on her kids to assure quality and functionality. the boy's collection matches comfortable silhouettes with fun details like an asymmetrical zipper or little splashes of color. these pieces make great essentials for any occasion from a summer wedding to the playground!

Fashion Coos: Phoenix and Nola

there is a new basic in town and it goes by the name of phoenix and nola. phoenix and nola offers soft affordable pieces in a rainbow of beautiful colors, as well as limited edition graphic tees and sweatshirts. the collection is the brainchild of brooklyner katja douedari. besides designing and producing her own children's line, she also runs the delightful play space "play" and is mother to the most angelic twins! the line is available in her store in greenpoint, brooklyn and at bloomingdales (in store.) i am sure they will open an online store soon!

 (jeans! jeans! jeans!) this is an update to the training wheel. it has a gyroscope inside so whenever your little one starts to teeter on the bike it compensates. it fits on all beginner bikes. no more spills. no more training wheels! pretty cool-right?

Toy Fair 2011: Part 1

the toy fair was great, but a bit overwhelming. so much to see and, um, not see. i've been uploading these darn photos for the past three hours, so i am going to make this quick...more tomorrow!

i was playing with a sample set of these blocks all afternoon...they are brand new to the us market straight from denmark. they are a lot of fun.

another reason to get pregnant (again): a baby activity gym from plan toys! kind of a weird set-up here, but it is great.
