  1. Holden is currently obsessed with hiding under the sheets and playing peek-a-boo. Every time he wakes up (in the morning & from his naps) and before I put him down, he lifts up the blanket and pulls it over his head. I'm pretty sure he would be obsessed with this blanket.

  2. Late to the party here, but I just wanted to point out that the image on this blanket is cultural appropriation. Using images of "cutesy" first nations/aboriginal regalia is offensive to the native peoples who these objects and representations belong to. It also reinforces the idea that aboriginal people are some how quaint and semi-mythical similar to how we think of knights or pirates, instead of a living, vital, cultural group who has fought against horrific oppression and attempted genocide.

I hope that this wonderful blog would not feature any golliwog dolls or t-shirts with yellow-skinned asian people wearing straw hats and dangling mustaches. This is very much the same. Please consider this when making future posts.

  3. thank you for visiting my blog and your thoughtful comment.

i certainly understand the issue of cultural appropriation, but i respectfully disagree. the indian design on the bu blanket in my opinion is not offensive. it does not portray indian or aboriginal cultures in a negative or demeaning light. it maybe be cute, but it is also a sophisticated and beautiful design. to me the indian design celebrates diversity and is a gateway for children to learn about other cultures. in the same way i have featured japanese dolls made by japanese artisans. i know there is a lot of grey area and one would always want err on the side of sensitivity. but can't we have a fun too?
