Adorn: Sayer's Grown Up Room Revealed! {Guest Post by klt:works}

i did it! i moved this weekend. i tell ya, moving pregnant isn't easy. i am very lucky to have a little help tonight in the form of a killer guest post from kristin at klt:works. if you don't know kristin's work you better race to her site now (please come back!) to see some seriously creative toys, tees, mobiles, art and more for kids and adults. tonight kristin is sharing her son's updated grown-up boy room...

{guest post: kristin of klt:works}
my little guy just turned 4 this month so it was a perfect time to update his room a bit. i've loved the transition process from designing his nursery, to coming up with a big boy room & thought i would share some recent photos with you while amanda is busily unpacking boxes & dreaming about her new spaces. sayer, my 4 year old, loves numbers, fire trucks, trains, color, maps, music, books, & drawing.

we worked together to represent all of these interests to make his room a place where he will be inspired to play & create freely - while keeping some of his favorite decor elements from his nursery. the "s" on the wall that my husband painted, the renovated childhood dollhouse of mine- turned changing table/ toy shelf, the klt:works b&w mobile (one his first and favorites!), carpet tiles, crib converted to toddler bed, & custom book ledges are some of the original nursery design staples. as for the new updates, we have lots of lego storage under his bed now, an old boom box for his audio books & music, a map & vintage globe light, an easel, colorful wall dots, a HUGE stendig calendarnew bedding that he helped pick out, lots of vintage finds & more book storage

this is a room that's  always  evolving & bustling with creative activity. it's safe to say that we all love hanging out in there. thanks for letting me stop by amanda! enjoy creating your new nest!

Moving Out!

so it's official! we are moving south! southern brooklyn that is. it's a bit bittersweet since i love my williamsburg, but i am trading in great shopping and endless coolness for trees and space.

sitting here in a forest of cardboard boxes, i sat down to check emails and clicked through the kidsonroof catalogue, which is chock full of the cutest stuff for kids, and thought this picture accurately described my life at the moment. not to mention that these little dolls made from recycled fabric are hopelessly adorable. just quickie posts this week.

Coos Reviews: Madii & Dyl, Australian for Pillow

madii & dyl's infant and toddler laxtex pillows are hypoallergenic, natural, washable and my son's current obsession!

to back-up, this kid has had many opportunities to have a lovey: blabla dolls, jelly cat stuffies, etc. he could care less about them. place an ergonomic latex pillow on his bed and he is smitten! when he wakes up at 3 am and stands at the edge of my bed wanting to get in...what's in his hand? his madii & dyl pillow. in the morning he'll crawl into bed without his pillow and he'll be like mommy my little pillow. it's weird and totally cute.
my son's attachment aside, these pillows are great. i feel like my 2 year old sleeps better on it and doesn't get a sweaty head like he does with a regular pillow. i love that it is made from organic materials and it has two breathable covers to protect it. the pillows come in three sizes: sooki baby ( 3m+); teenii tot (18m+); and mini me (4y+). these hail from australia, but are available at numerous us retailers including amazon. buy madii & dyl teeni tot latex pillowhere.

Girl Problems...

dear readers,

i have a dilemma... i am expecting a baby girl this spring and all i want to do is look at little dresses and tights. would you feel abandoned if i started posting girl's fashion too?  (boy's would always be the focus since that is the harder sex to dress.) would coos & ahhs be just anther blog in the sea of blogs?  is this silly? let me know your thoughts.

xo,
amanda

Coos Reviews: My First App

i often wonder how parents made it through a dinner out or long flights before iphones. they are lifesavers to say the least.  i am constantly on the hunt for apps that are nicely designed and stimulating.
it comes as no surprise that my first app vehicles is designed in germany with delightfully quirky illustrations and a simple design. the app features tractors, police cars, trucks, horse carriages, spaceships and more! there are puzzles, mix-and-match and a handheld pinball game for little boys to explore. my henry adores this app. available for iphone and ipodtouch.
