Fashion Coos: Ketiketa Spring/Summer!

i am wild about ketiketa. it's like aden + anais for fashion--only better! all the pieces are crazy soft, light weight cotton with darling prints. i just wish it wasn't so expensive. gotta wait for a sale.

Operation Nursery: Wounded

decorating can be dangerous! i have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the oeuf furniture i ordered and it finally came today!!! woot woot!  when i got home from work i instantly started putting the crib and dresser together (just attaching the legs) and in my excitement i think i hurt something. i am the worst pregnant lady and never take it easy.

above is my inspiration board for the room. you can see i am bit all over the place with the decor but i think it will come together. i'm not a matchy-match kinda gal. i cannot decide on what to do with the windows (fabric ideas on right). anyway off to  the couch to rest my injured body. follow the project on twitter with #operationnursery

Adorn: New Bedding from Smiling Planet

you might know of smiling planet from their beautiful plates and cups adorned with sweet little drawings. i did a somersault of joy when i learned about their new bedding collection --and just in time for the pending arrival of baby girl! this collection is a nice alternative to the bold graphic modern bedding that we see so much these days. i love the understated serenity of these pieces.

the collection includes toddler and crib bedding, pajamas, robes and towels. it launches next month and i cannot wait to get my hands on it. the tiny little designs are the epitome of baby goodness.
update:the room project is in full swing. follow me on twitter or facebook and search #operationnursery to find updates. tomorrow the oeuf furniture arrives!!!

Hoppy Easter from Grasshopper {Sponsor Highlight}

grasshopper has a curated selection of toys, books, furniture, decor, and clothing for children and babies. stocked full of eco--not to mention beautifully designed--products grasshopper is a must see if you are in portland. but don't worry they have a great online store too! here is a little bunny round-up just in time for easter!

Adorn: Sprucing Up with Babyletto

operation nursery is kicking into full gear, i just received the newly released spruce bookcase from babyletto!

since the day i saw shawn soh's tree bookcase at the contemporary furniture fair, i have lusted after its branches. now produced by nursery works (in the same family of companies as babyletto) it is both out of my price range and bit too big for my space.

so i was delighted to see the spruce. it is the mini version of the soh design--smaller, sleeker and affordable! when i unpacked the box i was impressed at the quality of the construction-- made from solid hardwood and mdf--and even my pregnant brain assembled it in a few minutes! total cinch! i cannot wait to show you how it looks in the room!

babyletto provides a rare and beautiful thing: clean modern furniture for children that is both affordable and high quality. they offer a full range of cribs, rockers. storage and more. including one of my favorite pieces the grayson mini crib that, besides being mini, folds flat. hello new york city apartments!

shop babyletto here

Ahhs: Swimmers from dents de loup

Books to Coo About: Cherry Blossoms Mean Spring!

aoki by annelore parot
how quickly the weather changed here in the city! people went from puffer jackets to flip flops and tanks in a matter of days! everything is blooming and it feels wonderful. so in honor of sakura matsuri, the japanese cherry blossom season, i want to share two very special books that landed on my desk recently.

meet yumi and aoki both are the cutest little japanese kokeshi (japanese wooden dolls) and each has a delightful book to explore. author annelore parot takes little aoki through the streets, subway and shops of tokyo. little fingers can open flaps to explore the shelves of a store or find out what's inside aoki's bento lunch.
aoki loves the smell of the sakura

cherry blossoms and koi--looks like spring!
yumi's book takes you on an adventure with her best friend as they get ready for a costume party. also full of beautiful illustrations, gatefolds, flaps and peek-a-boo die-cuts. you will be cooing and ahhing along with your little one!

doesn't it seem like uniqlo (the japanese version of the gap) should have had a children's and baby range already? well it's finally happened! adorable, wearable, modern pieces for kids that wouldn't break the bank! the collection just hit the us stores on march 16. here are some of my favorite pieces from the undercover collection (warning: website is really annoying to navigate)

Adorn: Project Nursery Begins...

for two and half years i have been writing about kid's decor with no kid's room. it's been a huge dream of mine to put together a room for henry.

since we moved last month to a bigger apartment, we now have a huge room for the kids (eek! kids!) and planning is in full swing. i can't sleep at night because all i can think about is this room! i bought paint this weekend and ordered nursery furniture. i will be doing a lot of tweeting and facebook posts related to the project so please follow along and i'd love to hear your input!
oeuf sparrow crib; oeuf flag garlands; zigzag rug; and oeuf sparrow dresser
i'm starting off with a pretty neutral palette and i will build from there. lots of white, grey, birch wood, and graphic elements.

Ahhs: Corby Tindersticks

Playtime: Fall 2012 Fashion Preview

legs get the color treatment at esp no.1 (left) and another new yorker, noch, with cashmere leggings (right)
i waddled my way through the spring edition of playtime this weekend. this year the fair was much bigger even sans the maternity section and a pathetic excuse for a pop-up shop, but my heart felt a little heavy not to see many brands that are usually at the fair. the biggest upset being that clover nyc is on hiatus (sob!)...i hope they come back soon. i'll sum up fall fashion in these three words: color, collaboration and creative prints...

little esop bring it with stripes in all colors. loving this bright yellow
my new favorite brand tannhauser from austria. you're looking at the most amazing cashmere vest (on left) and adorable handcrafted clogs
tannhauser and noé & zoë get together and create beautiful printed cashmere pieces (left) and more adorable creations from noé & zoë another of my favorite brands of the moment

more goodness from noé & zoë
oeuf had a giant booth that i could have spent all day admiring the new pieces for fall. like these little bow ties and mitten with bright details
it might have to do with the fact that i am about to welcome a new one, but the new welcome collection from oeuf is probably what i am the most excited about. white. pima cotton.  yes, please!
neon is all over the fall collection of lucky fish
how excited was i to see uruguayan trommpo in the flesh?! these colored knits are so south american and perfect for a chilly day
more cuteness from trommpo
for the first time i was checking out girl's stuff! ode from nyc features tons of fun indian prints and alpaca knits for girls.

Fashions Coos: A for Apple {Spring Preview}

this season's a for apple collection is one of my favorites. i am wild about all the color and fun fabrics from the super eco material, tencel to neoprene. a for apple is always fashion forward. it is no wonder that opening ceremony tapped them to create yet another beautiful collection exclusively for their stores. here are some of my favorite pieces...

Ahhs: Soft Toys for Hard Boys

yes, it's a stereotype that boys love tools and gadgets, but most do! that is why i love these crocheted toys from the conran shop. soft and sweet but all boy.
