the skunk reads like a film noir for kids--filled with high style, stripped down prose, and lurking menace. the story unfolds when a seemingly harmless skunk shows up and begins following a man. the narrative quickly turns into a frantic chase through the city. the man goes to extremes to lose the tail of the skunk. he sets up a new home, in a new neighborhood to realize one day he is missing something. where is the skunk? totally hilarious.
the skunk is written by one my all time faves, mac barnett (of sam and dave dig a hole fame) and illustrated by patrick mcdonnell. this will be a summer reading fave.
